Delmer Furrer

Delmer Ellis Furrer Jr.

Del passed from this life on November 30, 2015 after a long illness.  He was born in Portland, Oregon on March 1, 1947 to Delmer Furrer Sr. and Marjorie (Lilly) Furrer.  He spent his youth in Oak Grove, attending Oak Grove School and Milwaukie High School, graduating in 1965.  He was a member of the varsity tennis team his senior year.  In 1967 Del joined the Navy Reserve.  He spent two years on active duty aboard the USS Bryce Canyon (AD-36) as a Damage Controlman Third Class. He served the remainder of his hitch in SAMNR 13-3 at Swan Island Navy Base. He was honorably discharged in 1973.

After active duty in the Navy, Del returned to school and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in business.  He spent the majority of his career in the automotive business in Portland and Bend.

Del was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bob.  He is survived by his brother Mike of Oak Grove, daughter Michelle, son Ryan and two grandchildren.

Nancy Bryan (Wilson)

I knew Del when we went to Oak Grove Grade School. He spent many days at his Grandparents home that was across the street from my house. Many days we played hide and seek with his brothers until after dark. RIP Del.

Mike Galvin

Played baseball with Del for a couple years and knew him very well through high school.  All around good guy..we have lost another fine classmate.  RIP friend.
