I became friends with Jan in 4th grade at Oak Grove Elementary.  In High School, we were part of a group of people from Milwaukie Christian Church who help start Concord Christian Church.  During this time we became very close friends.  She spent a couple years in the early 70's  working in Appalachia with the domestic version of the Peace Corps.  After college she had a career working for the original Southern CA Ma Bell in corporate sales, I believe.  Later in her life she decided to enroll in Law school to realize her life long dream of becoming an attorney.

After graduating from Lewis and Clark Law School, she started practicing family law.  After a several years practicing law, Jan faced the biggest challenge of her life, fighting breast cancer. During her battle, many of her friends came to help her. Some of her fellow attorneys even took over some of her legal duties  when she was too weak to perform them herself.  Upon her death, Jan left many friends who were better people having known and loved her. Jan, you will remembered with love.

Janis was a lovely person.  We enjoyed many classes together, in which she was an excellent student.  At an earlier reunion, I was fortunate to share a long conversation with her.  When I tried to find her again, I was sorry to learn that she had passed away.  What an interesting and meaningful life Janis lived.
