Obituary for Jack White

Jack Benton White of Milwaukie passed away on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at age 64. Jack was born in Portland on Dec. 4, 1946, to Robert White and Isla Rhea White. He attended Ardenwald Elementary, Milwaukie Jr. High, and Milwaukie High School, graduating in 1965. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, 1965-1969.

Jack was employed with Safeway for 27 years, and then retired to do what he dearly loved, traveling and eventually settling in the Philippines where he enjoyed living on the beach and watching sunsets from his back porch. Survivors include his wife, Marina (Yna) White; brothers, Robert, Dennis and Scott White; his son, Benjamin J. White, of Milwaukie, Or; his daughter, Margie Peden; son-in-law Chase L. Peden and his three grandchildren, Bryce, Kevin and Rachel Peden, of Grayson, Ga.

Jack will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his compassion, sincere kindness, great sense of humor, love for family and his enthusiastic desire to learn about the world and its vast diversities. He truly loved nature and the outdoors, enjoyed cooking amazing new dishes for friends and loved ones, learning/sharing historical facts about so many things and truly had a soul that appreciated all facets of music. Jack never met a stranger and never left any one place without a few new lifelong friends.
