We received a nice notification and email from Mike’s friend Dennis Stephens, a fellow Wilsonville Moose Lodge member who shared the following:
Mike was very proud of his Milwaukie roots and his days as a Mustang. I was a Beaverton class of ‘67 grad. We talked many times of our Metro League days. Dave Rogoway’s Facebook group, Portland Memories, fueled countless discussions of bygone days of restaurants, bars, and venues that have faded into history. He enjoyed recalling them all so much.
Mike was also an extremely successful businessman. At one point, he owned a Nissan dealership in Maui and was the number one dealer in the country in the late ‘70s.
Mike had a lot of friends at the Wilsonville Moose Lodge, who will miss him very much.
We know many of you will want to post remembrances on this Memorial Page.

Mike was a good guy. I discovered Easy A's sophmore year, my favorite being Boy's Choir. Unlike Acapella which came later, this was a roudy, raucous group, and Pecker was at the heart of the fun. If there was an off color, double entendre lyric to be substituted, Mike would come up with it. Soon we would all be singing it, waiting for Mr. Timothy to catch on and tell us how depraved we were. Thanks for the memories Mike.

This is very sad news. Mike and I grew up together from the third grade on. Of coarse when we got to high school I started working at the pool hall and he would get into a nine ball game without the money to back up his bets. This would always end up with him talking his way out which was great fun to watch.
One very memorable adventure for me was with him and Dennis Cross, going over to Dennis's house to talk his mom into letting him go to the beach with us. That was when I met Dennis's sister Janet which ended up to be my wife of 55 years. We all ended up going to the beach thanks to Mike's sweet talking Dennis;s mom.
We had some great times together after I got out of the Air Force. We spent three weeks in Hawai with our wives and through the 70's and 80's we had many dinners and partiestogether and he was always the life of the party. I'm sorry to say that we didn't keep in very close touch after that but I did talk to him just last year for a while on the phone.
There are so many more stories but it's enough to say he will be missed

On Friday October 25, 2024, a Celebration of Life was attended by Mike's friends and family at the Wilsonville Moose Lodge where MIke was a member . The lodge was packed. A Memory Circle was held and memories shared. Attending from our graduation class was Linda Babler (Mike''s companion over the lastd 7 years), Dave Rutten, Mike Gossett, Mike Prawl, Dennis Olafson and myself, Kathie Barr. He was obviously a popular friend and member.
