I attended a Memorial event put on by Roger's family Saturday, May 25, 2024 as did others from Milwaukie. There is no question Roger was just as loved by his own community as he was loved by all of us. I had the pleasure of knowing Roger since we were in early elementary school at Concord. You just couldn't find a finer person. I remember in 8th grade we both ate the school lunch containing potato salad that gave us food poisoning. We were so sick and had to stay home to rehydrate the next day. Roger was really bored and called me; we talked on the phone for hours recovering just to pass the time. Through high school Roger was in the choir and a fellow member with the Pony Pipers. I understand he continued to participate in musical theater after high school. The memorial was filled with Beavers memorbilia as Roger was a standout OSU football player in the Dee Andros era. There were well over 150 people attending the memorial and many had stories of Roger. His wife and two sons shared 3 grandaughters who are also active in sports. He is sorely missed for sure.
